Wow! Yet another 5 months have past and it's time for a new blog.
With the holidays upon us we've been busy preparing Santa rentals and other holiday costumes (Mrs. Santa, elves, reindeer and more) for office holiday parties around the city. I've gone home every night only to find white Santa beard hairs in surprising places.
A new trend that seems to be emerging is themed staff holiday parties. Among the most popular is masquerade. I myself am going to my sister's masquerade themed work party tomorrow. We are of course wearing some fabulous ballgowns from Harlequin with lovely masks purchased from the retail department. I'll post a picture in the next blog. Other popular ideas are tacky tuxes and cartoon characters.
Speaking of masquerade. Republic is having a masquerade themed New Years Eve party. Now if you are wondering "What do I wear for masquerade anyhow?" I'll tell you. Most women favour our ballgowns or french court dresses. Men can wear dress tails or french court too. Really though, masquerade means "dress up" so you can do whatever your imagination can conceive of... and add a mask!
This is a photo of my friends Lisa and Matt, and I at Mardi Gras in 2008. We are all decked out in Harlequin's finest french court looks.
The next big thing coming up is the Wonderful Wedding Show, January 22 & 23rd. We will be doing a booth this year to promote our ever popular kilt wedding packages and THEMED WEDDINGS! More and more over the years we have been costuming brides, grooms and their guests for all sorts of fun themed weddings. The most popular themes are: western, medieval, victorian, pirate, and 1920s. Also don't forget the social. Trying to drag you're friends and family to yet another boring social can be tough. Making it a costume or themed social adds an element of fun and will make your social more memorable. So come check out our booth for more ideas on how to make your wedding or social unique and fun!
From everyone at Harlequin Costume and Dance, have a safe and happy holiday season!
